Student interaction is a vital part of any lesson.
Engineering an arrangement of elements (and ignoring pre-conceptions)
with a hands-on activity bring surprising results and satisfaction.
But even those unable to dismiss the hundreds of 2D periodic tables
they have seen reach the same conclusion:
that the Periodic Law was correct even though
the Periodic Table - the greatest tool for learning and doing Chemistry -
does not illustrate the Law, as many have claimed!
Students in different grades or intellectual levels should vary in speed of discovery of the helix, but the capabilities of the non-academic oriented may be thankful and stimulated by the hands-on aspect of what has typically been abstract.
